Life at Haddington Care Home

Our enthusiastic Activities Coordinators go above and beyond to supply fun and exciting activities every week, as well as regular social events and trips out. Just some of the activities that residents can enjoy are pet therapy, arts & crafts, bingo, nature walks and sing-a-longs.

We make sure to sit with our residents regularly to learn about the life they have lived as well as their likes and preferences so that we can cater to a variety of interests. Getting Out and About in East Lothian

Haddington Care Home is located in the attractive town of Haddington, East Lothian. Nestled in a quiet, residential area and surrounded by green spaces, this provides the perfect opportunity for countryside walks as soon as residents step out the door. Just a short drive from the coast, residents can visit Gosford Sands Beach and North Berwick which is a popular seaside town within East Lothian.

For those who enjoy playing golf as a regular hobby, there are a number of golf clubs dotted around the home for residents to make their way around. Archerfield Walled Garden, Dirleton Castle & Gardens, Neilson Park and The River Tyne are a handful of fantastic tourist attractions for residents to visit as a group outing or with their family. Residents needn’t worry about having to catch local buses to their destination, as our on-site transport is readily available to all residents. Our minibus can hold up to 12 people so group outings can easily be arranged, and accessible for wheelchair users.

Residential Care

Residential care is offered to those who enjoy a communal setting instead of living by themselves or in their family’s home, where assistance is provided to those who need help with everyday tasks. Residential care provides a varied and fulfilling way of life for those who are still able to live independently, but who want to spend time carrying out their hobbies with those who share similar interests.

Our staff can aid with tasks such as washing, dressing, medication administration, and mobility. Residents who receive residential care can treat Haddington as their own and live every day the way they want to, free of housekeeping chores, cooking and cleaning.

Nursing Care

Our home offers nursing care for individuals who require 24/7 medical treatment as well as personal care by a dedicated team of nurses. Residents needing nursing care will receive the greatest care and support possible at all times of the day and night. Our nursing team is dedicated to meeting all well-being needs and our rooms are equipped with the necessary features such as profiling beds, hoists, walking frames and nurse call systems.

Our qualified team can aid those with physical disabilities, long-term health conditions, critical illnesses or high dependency needs. Our staff works around-the-clock to provide comprehensive, person-centred care that enables each resident to be fully satisfied and comfortable during their stay.

Dementia Care

Dementia is a neurological condition that affects those of an older age in a variety of ways such as their memory, thinking and social abilities. Those living with dementia can continue to live a vibrant and full day with the right care and support from our compassionate team, able to participate in dementia-friendly activities on a regular basis. We strive to provide the ideal balance between offering support while also encouraging independence.

At Haddington Care Home we treat every resident as the individual that they are as no two diagnoses are the same. Our staff has received ongoing training in order to provide effective care and ensure our residents are being cared for to the best of our ability.

Respite Care

Respite care is a form of short-term care that provides people who are primary caregivers with a well-deserved break from their caregiving duties. If someone is recently recovering from an illness, injury or operation, respite care will allow the individual to recover in the best way by a team of experts.

Respite care is also available for those looking to move into our home but would prefer a trial stay before deciding to live here permanently. No matter how long someone needs care, every individual receives only the highest-quality, personalised care until they feel ready to return to their normal lives.

Providing Support For You & Your Loved One

Finding a care home for a loved one can often be an overwhelming process and sometimes hard to pinpoint exactly when the right time is. It could be that someone close to you is finding it difficult to maintain their household or that they are showing signs of dementia or a long-term health condition. We understand that each person’s needs require a different level of care, that’s why we at Haddington carefully assess our residents prior to admission in order to create a care plan solely for them.

We invite you to sit with our friendly team to talk about the care needs of your loved one, where we can discuss the different types of elderly care available and recommend the most suitable care. This ensures that all parties involved in the process can feel comfortable and confident with making the necessary steps; we are here for you every step of the way.
