Sunny Days at Haddington – Residents Soak up the Sunshine!
Spring has brought a burst of sunshine to Haddington Care Home, and our residents couldn't be happier! With May gracing us with beautiful weather, our residents and activities team have been making the most of it.
A Scenic Trip Out
We recently had a delightful trip in our trusty minibus, winding our way down the beautiful scenic coast of East Lothian. Along the way, we indulged in some delicious ice cream, adding a sweet touch to our sightseeing escapades. The joyous sunshine also provided the perfect backdrop for us to relax and catch up with friends on the decking, reminiscing about cherished holiday memories, both near and far and what better way to complement the sunny vibes than with some refreshing fresh fruit punch? Of course, we made sure to prioritise sun protection, with suncream and sun hats to stay safe while soaking up the rays.
But it's not just about enjoying the sunshine; it's also about reaping the health benefits it offers. Vitamin D, often in short supply in Scotland, plays a crucial role in bone health, immune function and overall wellness, particularly among the elderly. Recognising this, the government has been rolling out initiatives to provide vitamin D supplements to the elderly population. As a care provider deeply committed to the wellbeing of our residents, we seize every opportunity to naturally boost their vitamin D levels, ensuring they thrive under our care.
Next month we have some exciting new names for our units, handpicked by our residents themselves! From honouring memories to embracing the spirit of community, these names will reflect the heart and soul of Haddington Care Home.
