Making Wishes Come True at Haddington Care Home

The past couple of months have been an incredible time of fundraising, community spirit, and fun here at Haddington Care Home. We’ve come together as residents, families, staff, and supporters to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish charity – and we are absolutely thrilled to share that we’ve smashed our fundraising target!

For those who may not know, Make-A-Wish is a remarkable charity that grants life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses. Whether it’s meeting their hero, visiting a dream destination, or simply experiencing a magical day, these moments bring hope, happiness, and a sense of wonder to children and their families during difficult times. This charity’s mission resonated deeply with us, and it’s been heartwarming to see so many people give their time, energy, and generosity to help us support such a worthwhile cause.

Our fundraising kicked off with a car boot sale, which was a huge success. Families, staff, and members of the local community came along to buy and sell items, creating a fantastic buzz and helping us raise a great sum towards our target.

Next, we were absolutely blown away by the incredible efforts of one family member who took on the impressive challenge of running a marathon in Lanzarote. Not only did Kenny complete the run, but they helped raise a significant amount for Make-A-Wish in the process. A massive well done to him for their determination and hard work – what an inspiration!

December brought a wonderful festive spirit to Haddington Care Home, and our Christmas Fayre was a highlight for everyone involved. The home was beautifully decorated with balloons, twinkling lights, and festive cheer. Santa himself stopped by to meet residents and families, spreading joy with the help of his team of elves. Residents loved the chance to pose for photos with Santa, and there were plenty of smiles to go around as we enjoyed games, stalls, and delicious festive treats.

We were also delighted to hold a Silent Auction for a very special item – boxing gloves signed by world champion boxer Josh Taylor. The auction created a real sense of excitement, and we’re pleased to announce that the winner was Iain O’Neill. Thank you, Iain, for your support, and congratulations on your win!

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the hard work, enthusiasm, and generosity of our residents, families, and staff. Whether helping to organise events, bake cakes, donate items, or simply spreading the word, your efforts have made such a difference.

At Haddington Care Home, we pride ourselves on fostering a strong sense of community and purpose, and this fundraising effort has truly brought us all together. Knowing that the money raised will go towards creating magical memories for children in need makes all of our hard work even more rewarding.

Thank you to everyone who supported us over these past months – from the bottom of our hearts. Together, we’ve made a real impact for Make-A-Wish and helped bring smiles to the faces of those who need it most.
