Residents Enjoying a Walk

A Busy July

July has already been a super busy month for our care home in East Lothian with lots of activities and outings taking place. Haddington Care Home knows how important it is to ensure residents take part in a mentally stimulating and physically active activities programme and we design our weekly programmes so that there's something to suit everyone.

To improve our resident's physical health and to get out into the fresh air, we have had several walks down by the river, admiring the views and wildlife. These walks have kept our residents active and have increased several individuals' social interactions while exploring new sights in our local community.

Lots of activities have been going on inside our Haddington Care Home as well. We welcomed Miss Traill into Haddington Care Home last week for a musical performance on her piano. All of our residents loved listening to what she played and we cannot wait to invite her back for another performance.

Continuing with the musical theme, some of our residents performed karaoke. These few hours were filled with lots of smiles and joy with pretty much everyone in our home getting involved getting up to dance also. By providing our residents with these kinds of activities, they can keep their minds engaged which helps with their overall wellbeing.

Our Activities Coordinators will always involve our residents in having their input on what goes on within our activities programme and several of our residents requested an activity surrounding model trains. Our residents sat down in our lounge, set up a track and watched the trains go around. We think it is important to deliver activities that our residents truly want to partake in and we also try our hardest to make sure they can continue their hobbies when living in our home.
