A Barge Trip by Seagull Trust

Residents Enjoying Barge Trip

Haddington Care Home already had a busy month so far in August. From pleasant walks in the countryside, a music afternoon with lots of singing and dancing, petting a puppy, a game of dominos, weekly quiz, ping pong and chair exercises which are just a few of the activities that residents have participated in throughout August.

One stand-out day was the barge trip. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed their day out on the barge run by Seagull Trust, seeing all the wonderful sights in East Lothian. Seagull Trust is a charitable organisation that provides free barge trips to people with special needs and the elderly. As a care home, we regularly use their services as it always goes down well with residents.

Some of our residents were keen to get out to the front of the boat and even be brave enough to hold onto the edge and enjoy the sights in the open air. Residents were in search of wildlife and managed to spot a few animals by the river bank. There were smiles all round and we were blessed with the weather.

We recently had our Haddington Care Home Summer Fete. A big thank you to all our residents, staff and families for making the Summer Fete a great day. There were lots of stalls selling various ornaments, books, clothing and baked goods. Residents' families and members of the local community joined us and helped to raise £300 which will be used to buy some extra equipment to support activities with residents.
