Dining Tables at Haddington

Dining

Our varied daily menu is thoughtfully prepared by our onsite chef and catering team, using fresh ingredients and, wherever possible, locally sourced produce. From hearty favourites to lighter dishes, we cater for all tastes, preferences and dietary needs, ensuring every resident can look forward to mealtimes.

We know that as we age, food plays an even more vital role in our health and wellbeing. That’s why we prioritise meals that are both nourishing and enjoyable, served in a welcoming setting where residents can dine with comfort and dignity.

The Highest Quality of Food

Every day, our in-house chefs prepare a wide range of high-quality meals using seasonal ingredients sourced locally whenever possible. From traditional favourites like roast dinners and classic fish dishes on Fridays to comforting desserts and delicious home bakes, our menus are designed to satisfy a variety of tastes.

Our seasonal menu rotates regularly to keep things fresh and exciting. Residents can also get involved by sharing feedback after meals, attending regular chef meetings, and even suggesting their own favourite recipes. We love involving residents in themed food days—from international cuisine and high teas to cocktail-making afternoons and picnic-style lunches. There are also opportunities for residents to help with baking, from Chef Liz’s famous malt cake to home-made scones and shortbread.

Meals can be enjoyed in any of our three spacious dining rooms or, when the weather allows, outside on our peaceful patio. Afternoon tea is served regularly, with tea trolleys rolling into each dining room to bring a sense of occasion. Friends and family are always welcome to join residents for lunch or special celebrations. We also take great pride in creating personalised birthday cakes that reflect each resident’s favourite flavours and styles—because little touches matter.

A Helping Hand For Those With Dementia

Our dining environments are carefully designed to offer calm, comforting spaces with minimal distractions and plenty of room to move safely. Our goal is to make every mealtime a positive experience.

Specialised tableware is available to support motor skills and promote independence, helping residents retain their dignity and confidence while dining. Our chefs and care teams are trained in IDDSI (International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative) to ensure every resident’s needs are carefully met, including a nutritional assessment on admission and ongoing support.

Our team works closely with our in-house Nutrition Champion and management to discuss dietary needs and preferences in weekly planning sessions. Whether it’s a hearty roast, a lighter bite, or a fortified meal for added support, we make sure that no one is left out and every plate is prepared with care.

And if a little extra support is ever needed at the table, our compassionate staff are always close by, offering help with dignity and warmth. Because at Haddington, we know that food isn’t just about eating—it’s about feeling at home.
