Residents of Haddington Care Home Get Out & About
As the colder days seem to be passing, it's the perfect time to get our minibus out in full swing!
Enjoying The Spring Sunshine!
We have had many day trips over the last couple of weeks, from visits to the seaside, embracing the sea breeze through our hair, trips to our local garden centres for a cuppa, cake and a blether, alongside a day trip to the National Museum of Scotland.
We're grabbing the opportunity whilst we can when the weather stays dry for a change of scenery and to reminisce about how times gone by for our residents within the local area. Likewise, getting out and about with friends here at Haddington Care Home, means we all get to take in familiar sights that we can again reminisce about, or experience new places, creating new and exciting memories.
Here at Haddington, we're dedicated about making sure all of our residents are engaged in meaningful activities and able to participate within the winder community. Our residents are in the driving seat when it comes to choosing what trips they'd like or where they'd like to visit next.
We think its so important for social engagement to be a priority within our home, it helps our residents reduce any feelings of loneliness, symptoms of depression and can also improve their cognitive function, therefore enhancing their physical, social and mental wellbeing.
Talking about embracing our community partnerships, we are excited to announce that we will be working with our friends at “Made in East Lothian” in taking part in an arts and crafts project, in a community setting, for those of our residents living with dementia. In addition, our gents who are passionate about sport will be visiting with our friends “Sporting Memories” at the John Muir Centre every fortnight where reminiscing about all kinds of sporting memories is the aim of the game with a pie and a pint at half time; how amazing! We love being able to do these kinds of activities for our residents and seeing their smiles makes it all worth while.
