What is Respite Care?

Respite Care is a short-term care option, providing both planned and unplanned respite breaks from a usual care giver. Whether individuals have experienced a fall, are recovering from an illness or the primary caregiver is looking to have a short break, Haddington Care Home is on hand to help relieve pressure or worry. All residents staying with us, no matter their length of stay, receive only the highest-quality respite care until they feel more like themselves again.

Respite Care is delivered to residents in our purpose built care home, where residents receive the finest possible care at all times, day and night. Our person-centred approach to care means we look after our residents as a whole, offering an opportunity to give residents a degree of independence in a safe and supportive environment; helping to relieve caregiver stress one day at a time. We work hard to maximise the potential of each resident enabling them to experience a fulfilling and comfortable life under our care. Respite stays are a minimum of 3 weeks, and prospective residents can also use respite care as a trial to see if our care home is right for them long term.

Respite Care FAQs

Respite care is available to any individual who requires support on a short-term basis. Respite care provides an opportunity for recovery and assistance with daily living tasks when a caregiver needs a break from their caregiving duties. If you or a loved one needs full-time care, respite care can also be used to trial our home for a few weeks to see if it’s a right fit.

Our care services are available to all of our respite residents, no matter their length of stay. During a resident’s stay, they can expect their own bedroom, meals and refreshments, activities and entertainment, access to our in-house facilities, and support with daily living. Depending on the care needs of the individual, nursing care may also be provided.

The length of stay for respite care will vary on the individual’s needs and the availability of respite beds. At Haddington Care Home, a minimum length of stay of 3 weeks does apply to allow residents to feel settled and get the most out of our service – for further information please get in touch with our team.
