Being surrounded by a plethora of activities and excursion options places our home in the perfect location for residents and their friends and family to enjoy some of the most wonderful places Haddington and the local area has to offer.

Our Cafe

Amisfield Walled Gardens is hugely popular with our residents and their guests. Reachable in under ten minutes via car, is one of the largest walled community gardens in Scotland and boasts extensive herbaceous borders, fruit and vegetable beds, wildflower meadow, orchard and woodland plantings. The woodland and meadow surrounding the garden is the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful walk that can be enjoyed alone or with loved ones. Haddington Care Home is lucky to also be positioned close to St Mary’s Pleasance. This stunning walled garden sits adjacent to St Mary’s church and has been carefully designed with plants that reflect the features of a 17th century Scottish garden. This beautiful spot offers plenty of benches for viewing and even the less keen gardeners will find something to marvel at. Residents thoroughly enjoy visiting this beautiful part of Haddington, leaving them calm and transported into another time.

For those who like to explore the beauty that nature has to offer, residents and loved ones have an array of outdoor tourist spots to visit including the breathtaking Nungate Bridge overlooking River Tyne and Longniddry Railway Walk. One of Scotland’s oldest bridges, Nungate Bridge, a wonderful bridge in the local town leading to the area of Nungate; the perfect way to enjoy River Tyne and is indicative of how pretty the area and village are. Located nearby to Gosford Bay Beach, Longniddry Railway Walk is a fantastic spot for a scenic walk, and with it leading towards a beautiful beach, it’s a popular destination for those visiting the area.

For our residents who enjoy a slice of history, we recommend a trip to Lennoxlove House and Gosford House. Lennoxlove House is a working estate located on the outskirts of Haddington and surrounded by the rolling East Lothian countryside overlooking the vista of the Lammermuir Hills. Perfect for those who are keen to experience the centuries-old architecture, paintings, antiques and learn about its historical past and the families who have lived here, as well as those who simply enjoy beautiful scenery.

Should residents and their loved ones wish to spend time together enjoying a spot of shopping, they can do so at the local High Street located just a 4 minute drive away; perfect for everyday essentials, to enjoy afternoon tea or to buy that special gift.
